John Paul
John Paul graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2013 and has since continued to develop his skills in Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry. He has a particular interest in Implant Dentistry, caring for dentally anxious patients and the treatment and prevention of gum disease.
John Paul is a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in London, has post graduate certificates in treatment of advanced gum disease and provision of intravenous sedation, and is currently completing a post graduate diploma in Dental Implantology. John Paul provides intravenous sedation with midazolam and is one of a small number of dentists in the country certified in sedation with remimazolam, which can be used for shorter appointments. While sedation can be used in overcoming dental fears, John Paul enjoys building trust and working through dental phobia with patients – with the eventual goal that patients reach good dental health and are able to attend for simple treatments without the need for sedation. John Paul likes to work in a friendly and relaxed environment and loves being able to restore patients’ function and appearance so they can smile and eat with confidence.
“Very happy overall with treatment, pain free, friendly staff! No longer afraid to visit the dentist anymore after having a few bad experiences in the past! Highly recommend! So very happy with my new veneers! I love smiling now! Thank you John Paul.”
John Paul and his wife Claire are currently expecting their first child, and he is really excited about becoming a dad. They love to travel and have a particular soft spot for the city of Malaga, where they got married in 2022.
At home, John Paul is head chef and really enjoys cooking a variety of meals – he especially likes attempting dishes from Thailand and Vietnam having spent time travelling there and enjoying the local cuisine. He also loves music of all ages and genres, which you may notice if you hear his personalised playlist in surgery. Personally, John Paul is football daft and enjoys going to games in different countries and regularly playing 5-a-sides with friends. He also has raised money over the years for Teenage Cancer trust, having climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and cycled the length of Ireland amongst various fundraising efforts.
“Another phase of my implant treatment completed successfully this morning. Taken promptly for appointment and warmly welcomed by John Paul and Karla. John Paul explained every step, made sure no pain or discomfort was felt during the procedure, supported well by Karla who works efficiently, showing care and tenderness. A professional team who ensure the comfort of the patient at all times and all work carried out to a high standard. Happy to recommend to anyone.”
